For Parents
Here at Vision Learning Center, we believe that the key to a successful program is open communication between you, your child’s teacher, and the program director. Vision has an open door policy for all of our parents. We welcome and encourage your visit at any time! Stop by and eat lunch with your child, tuck him/her nap, or just observe their daily activities! Our Program Director, Management Team, and Staff will always be available for any concerns or comments you may have, and we appreciate you sharing any insight into your child’s life that could influence his/her progress at the center. At least twice during the year formal parent conferences will be held. We also encourage informal conferences regularly. Feel free to schedule an appointment with your child’s teacher to discuss his/her social, emotional, physical and intellectual development and any other areas interest. Our monthly calendar, combined with posted reminders, will keep you informed of all center activities. We also host several special events during the year, designed to provide parents, children, and family members with opportunities to enjoy each other here at Vision. Events include Open House, Picture Days, Fall Festival, Graduation, as well as other holidays and traditions with special meaning for our center families. Each event is meant to be shared time which gives parents on opportunity to get to know each other, to talk with the child’s teachers, and to have an ‘inside’ look at their child’s center experience.
Your Child’s Daily Schedule will consist of the following:
Arrival When children first enter the center, the time of arrival and adult’s initials are noted on the sign in /out sheets. Parents escort children to the classroom where staff welcome each child for the day. Children engage in supervised free play between 6AM and Breakfast. Breakfast Breakfast is served for all toddlers and preschool children present at 8:00 AM. Infants are fed on demand, with bottles and baby food supplied by parents. Our weekly menu is posted in the lobby and is on a five week rotation to ensure variety in all meals served in the center. Morning Instruction Formal activities for toddlers and preschoolers begin with the morning meeting, where attendance is taken and topics for the day are discussed. A variety of specially planned individual and small group activities are available to promote intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and language growth. Self care skills (washing hands and face, straightening clothing, tying shoes) are reinforced throughout the day. Lunch A nutritious lunch is served family-style for all toddlers and preschoolers. Teachers eat with children and model appropriate manners and conversion, encouraging children to try all foods. Vision Learning Center is a participant in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program to ensure that all meals are balanced and nutritious! Rest Time Rest time follows lunch and lasts approximately two and half hours. All children nap or rest quietly on their cots or in their cribs. Teachers use quiet conversation, soothing music, and gently rub backs to help children relax and rest. Afternoon Activities After an afternoon snack, activities resume and follow a program that builds on the morning instruction. Children will have structured, age appropriate activities that reinforce the skills learned during Morning Instruction. Our outdoor play area is used as an extension of the program. Children spend some time outside every day, weather permitting. Comfortable, practical, washable, and labeled clothing is required for all ages. Departure Parents arrive in the late afternoon to hear about day’s activities from child or teacher. They collect belongings, including Infant/Toddler Logs and any work to be sent home, and sign out for the evening. Children leave for home at the end of an active, stimulating, and fun-filled day!
